How is Champagne Like Art? It’s About Time and Taste

In a feature story for Forbes, writer Elva Ramirez wrote about her experience at the New York Academy of Art’s annual #TakeHomeANude fundraising gala, where Champagne Bollinger Special Cuvee was poured for art collectors and celebrity attendees. She spoke with Bollinger’s U.S. Brand Director Rafaella Fontes about the similarities between collecting art and Champagne, who added that “Appreciating art and appreciating Champagne is ultimately a matter of taste.” She continued by adding “the best way to explore your taste in art is by visiting many galleries and museums and growing your visual vocabulary. Similarly with Champagne, the only way to figure out what best suits your palate is by trying as many expressions as you can, from different producers.”

The beautiful event featured a silent and live auction with works from Herb Ritts, Jan Frank, Judy Chicago, David Lynch and others. The high profile attendees included Brooke Shields, Liev Schreiber, Naomi Watts, Princess Alexandra of Greece, Eileen Guggenheim and artist Mickalene Thomas. You can read the full story here

Bollinger is one of the rare Grande Marques that’s still family owned. Known for its rich, elegant and polished style of Champagne, their outstanding wines are the result of rigorous attention to detail and incredibly labor-intensive practices that few houses are willing to undertake. Underscoring its excellence, Bollinger has remained British secret agent James Bond's Champagne of choice since 1973.
