From Boots, Buckets, & Brawn to Today – Ponzi Vineyards Turns 50

Katrina René of The Corkscrew Concierge published an extremely detailed, and beautiful story illustrating Ponzi Vineyards’ incredible 50 year journey. This past February, René had the privilege to sit down with Founder Dick Ponzi, Winemaker Luisa Ponzi and President Maria Ponzi for an extremely intimate lunch to learn more about the family’s ambitious plans to be among the first wineries in the Willamette Valley, how they’ve helped pave the way for so many others and how they are still raising the bar on quality in the region. This is an extremely detailed story and also shares highlights from the tasting featuring an extremely rare selection of library wines. Read the full story Here

Oregon Chardonnays present an unparalleled combination of bright acidity, texture and freshness of fruit on the mid-palate. Winemaker Luisa Ponzi’s goal is to allow the wines to express these characteristics each vintage through single vineyard expressions. The successes at Aurora Vineyard are expressed at this youthful vineyard planted in 2006. The site features a fusion of the right clones and rootstock planted on rich Laurelwood soil. Avellana yields a richer, weightier style Chardonnay as compared to the Aurora single vineyard wine.
