Washington Post Great Value Wine Selection: E. Guigal Côtes du Rhône Blanc 2018

To start off the New Year right, the Washington Post curated an excellent selection of “great value wines” to enjoy in 2021. The list features the 2018 E. Guigal Côtes du Rhône Blanc as the perennial favorite white wine.

Dave McIntrye described the wine as “An old standby: Guigal is a celebrated producer in the Rhone Valley, and its white cotes du Rhône is reliably seductive, flowery and rich […] It woos you with aromas of jasmine and honeysuckle, then hugs your palate with velvet. Try this with rich seafood or poultry.”

Guigal’s Côtes du Rhône Blanc both sets and steps outside the standard for the appellation and showcases one of the great secrets of the Guigal family: their specialization in the great white Rhône varieties. While only 8% of the Rhône's production is white, a full 25% of Guigal’s production is white and they are today the single largest producer of whites in the Rhône Valley.
